The Vanderburgh County Soil and
Water
Conservation District (SWCD) offers
presentations, tours,
community service projects,
workshops and other programs for all ages.
Our staff presents programs on
soil and water
related topics free of charge. You can choose out
of
the existing programs or have one specially designed for your
occasion. Examples of existing programs include
TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE
Teachers
We have presentations, handouts, videos, displays and books available for teachers
and public
Rain Garden presentation and/or display
Rain Barrel presentation and/or information
Training Trunks for children covering forestry (by Kimball
International)
History Trunk (History of water in Vanderburgh County)
Soybean Trunk (Demonstrates the many products that come from soybeans)
Riverwatch Training for adults to certify them to do water monitoring
Backyard Conservation presentation and/or display
Project Wet and Project Wild for students
Leopold Training for older students & adults (covers areas
of conservation)
The office will provide free
materials for community
service projects such as stream clean-up days,
storm drain stenciling, water monitoring and other
soil and water
conservation projects.

Hoosier Riverwatch seeks to increase public
awareness of water quality issues by training
volunteers in stream monitoring and clean-up
activities, to educate
communities about the
land/water quality relationship, and to provide
information to citizens and local government on
protecting streams
